Whether it is a private student, group lessons, or a school clinic, it's always exciting to meet new students and encourage their growth. By tailoring lessons to your specific needs and goals, as well as focusing on attainable targets, we will create a lesson plan which guarantees you will not only succeed, but enjoy the process along the way. Regardless of your age or skill level, you can expect a positive and dynamic learning environment.
My home studio is equipped with a variety of professional equipment and includes everything we will need to explore the world of percussion - two drum sets, marimba, vibraphone, glockenspiel, as well as all common (and many uncommon) percussion accessories, an array of hand drums, and much more.
I have been privileged to present a wide variety of workshops and clinics to an equally wide variety of groups and skill levels with each event being tailored to the specific needs of the group. Below is a sample of topics from previous engagements.
- The Art and Craft of Improvisation
- Exploring the World of Percussion
- Introduction to Mallet Percussion
- Jazz Harmony for Beginners
- Managing Percussion and Percussionists in High School
- Non-Performance Careers in Music
- Percussion Masterclass
- Writing and Composing for Percussion
My teaching experience has covered private and group lessons to a very diverse student body. I started teaching in my home studio shortly after finishing high school, and soon began teaching at the Douglas College Community Music School. I recieved a Certificate in University Teaching and Learning while completing my Masters degree at the University of Western Ontario, where I led the Western Chamber Music Jazz Ensemble, Marching Band, and taught adults and seniors in small groups as part of the New Horizons Adult Bands. In addition to this, I've engaged with groups of children and youth through the London Children's Connection, the Junction Climbing Center, Brio Music London, and have also educated youth through Vivo Music Ingersoll. I have presented countless clinics and workshops to thousands of students in school programs as well as university settings.
Learning music should be an enjoyable challenge. Contact me and we can find the best way to take the musicianship of you or your group to the next level.
"Jayden has fostered a productive atmosphere for my son, and has been thorough and engaging, while bringing a great deal of enthusiasm to teaching percussion. Without question, his education and experience is a great benefit to him, but I feel Jayden abilities go further than simply his academic career. He's a personable and knowledgeable—a rare pairing these days."
- Robert Thompson, Golf Analyst, Global News
"I found Mr. Beaudoin’s friendly, relaxed, and interactive style of lecturing very engaging. Jayden presented such a wide swath of knowledge concerning the “art and craft” of improvisation that there was something for everyone to take home...his advice and teachings on trying every possible variation and letting failures motivate even greater resolve and learning oportunities was most encouraging...I would whole heartedly encourage any percussionist program to engage his services, you will not be disappointed!"
- Clint Colegrave, Alberta, Canada
"I learned way more in jazz and enjoyed it so much more than I expected! Your enthusiasm and love of jazz is contagious. You are a great teacher!"
- Jennifer Boss, Events Executive, Western Chamber Music
