Hi, I'm Jayden!
As a freelance percussionist, I have decades of experience performing in countless genres including rock, pop and top 40's; combo and big band jazz; orchestral, symphonic, and choral; musical theatre and opera; military, marching band, and drumline; latin and world musics. My students have come from a diverse range of backgrounds and ranged from ages four to eighty five. I also lead The Blue Bar Band, a vibraphone trio which covers well known songs from genres including pop, rock, and jazz.

I specialize in photographing concerts and events, but also love to shoot sports, headshots, portraits, products, and weddings. Each of these genres offers me unique and enjoyable challenge. My work has been included in marketing for clients such as Sennheiser microphones, Attack Drumheads, and EnergyOne. I'm grateful to be able to connect with diverse audiences from a variety of backgrounds.
Based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, I enjoy travelling worldwide to play music, take photos, and for leisure. I enjoy rock climbing, riding my bicycle, and learning new things. In 2023, I rode my bicycle 10,500km across Canada from Vancouver to Cape Spear.
How am I a different percussionist?
There are a lot of percussionists out there, but not many percussionists are also professional cameramen who have experience in administration, and production. This benefits everybody, whether you're booking me as a session player or to lead an ensemble for your event. Having worked in multiple roles around both small and large events, whether they are for a wedding or at a bar, has required me to adapt to different high-stress situations and learn to find quick solutions to a variety of problems along the way, meaning I can easily adapt to fit your needs as well as the constraints of any venue or event, even when things don't go according to plan. My involvement in productions means that I can anticipate problems and offer solutions to you both musically and logistically. Photographers, like musicians, are also perfectionists, which means I'll always come ready to play to the highest standard.
Specific to equipment, I only use the highest quality instruments and mallets. I have owned my instruments for a long time, and by taking excellent care of them over the years I have been able to form a special bond with them. This allows me to craft a sound that is personal, rich, deep, and full of soulful energy. Because of my relationship with this high level equipment, there will be no mechanical limitations, which guarantees that I will be able to create more colourful sounds, something that can help out immensely when dealing with fast transitions or tight spaces.

How am I a different photographer?
There are a lot of photographers out there, but not many photographers are also professional musicians with a Masters degree and experience in productions and show business. This benefits everybody, whether you're booking headshots or hosting an event. Performing for tens of thousands of people, whether it's classical music or rock and roll, I've had to adapt to different high-stress situations and learn to find quick solutions to a variety of problems along the way, meaning I can easily adapt to fit your needs as well as the constraints of any venue or event, even when things don't go according to plan. My involvement in productions means that I can anticipate where to position myself to get the best photographs for your event. Musicians are also perfectionists, which means I'll only deliver fully edited and retouched images which pass a high standard.
Specific to equipment, I only use Canon dual SD card full-frame mirrorless cameras paired with Canon's Luxury lenses. Two SD Cards in each camera means that there is a built-in backup, and with Luxury lenses, you are guaranteed to have the best image quality with no mechanical limitations. You'll usually see me using zoom lenses, too. They guarantee that I can capture more photographs from the same position - something that can be crucial in fast-paced environments or ones where movement is limited, which happens at most events!
